Smith's pegged back by Devonshire attack
during latest action in the Under-18 Division of the BF&M/Shell Youth League.
In a low scoring affair, Smith's posted a modest 109 as four Devonshire bowlers took two wickets -- Larry Marshall, Boyce Amory, Darren Williams and Kanaz Tuzo.
Such was the accuracy of the attack that only three Smith's batsmen reached double figures. Chi-Ki Darrell top scored with 18, while J.Paynter tallied 14 and Benjamin Hall 12.
Likewise only three Devonshire bats showed any degree of application, Reginald Pitcher leading the way with an unbeaten 18, while openers Temeiko Wilson and Darren Williams scored 17 and 10 respectively.
David Trott, Barry Gibbons and Chi-Ki Talbot each took a pair of scalps.
At Saltus Field, Warwick destroyed visiting Sandys by a whopping 147 runs as Dion Stovell produced a stellar allround performance.
The youngster, who also performs on Sunday's for the senior squad, stroked 84 batting at number three and later returned to open the bowling, capturing three for 25.
Others scoring runs for Warwick were Taureen Manders (28), K.Butterfield (38) and Q.Jones (27). Sheroy Fubler and Donte Foley each took three wickets for Sandys, but at extravagant cost.
Sandys' chase never got off the ground as first Stovell and later Jones befuddled the west end bats. Jones weighed in with three for 12.
In Under-14 action, Warwick were again successful, this time by a margin of 91 runs, as Taureen Manders starred with both bat and ball. Manders top scored during Warwick's innings of 156, tallying 25 before retiring and returned figures of three for 14 as Somerset were skittled out for 65.
Others scoring runs for Warwick were M.Burch (21), J.Wilmot (19), R.Richardson (16), L.Richardson (17) and S.Bremar (15).
Devonshire strolled to a seven wicket triumph over Smith's spurred by identical unbeaten knocks from Justin Talbot (26 not out) and Reginald Pitcher (26 not out) in reply to the 81 run total posted by Smith's.
Cud-Joe Matthews top scored for Smith's with 25, but 81 was never enough to defend.
