Sousa, ranked second in his age group locally, won the indoor final 6-1, 6-0 to qualify for the even bigger Sunday Telegraph Tournament which is scheduled for September. However, the Saltus student will be unable to participate because of school.

Sousa clinched his place in the final at Leominster with a three set victory in the semis. He struggled early and lost the first set before winning the next two. He reportedly found the indoor conditions more to his liking, with the harder and faster surface.

Sousa has been vacationing in England with his family and is due back in the first week of September. He was recently in Atlanta where he reached the quarter-finals of a tournament there and was then runner-up to American Brandon Smith in the recent Port Royal tournament.
