Swimming sisters excel
performances at Saltus Pool when Harbour Swim Club held its annual open championships recently.
The Aitken girls, two of Bermuda's most promising swimmers, led the way by setting three age group and national records between them.
Ashley, swimming in the under 14 division, blitzed the field in the 50 metre freestyle, covering the distance in the record time of 27.46.
Not to be outdone, sister Kiera, competing in the 15-and-over division, improved on her previous record times by winning the 100 metres backstroke and the 200 metres backstroke in 1.09.31 and 2.31.72 respectively.
Ronald Cowen, fresh from the Winnipeg Pan Am Games, turned in sterling performances in winning all of his races, including near-record swims in the 100 metre freestyle in 53.03 seconds and the 200 metres in 2.14.68.
