Another commercial test for Cougars
Russell's reaction after his side had struggled to a 1-0 victory over lowly St. George's All-Stars in the FA Cup elimination round three weeks ago.
However, tomorrow in the preliminary round, they will once again find themselves facing perceived minnows when they clash with Forties in the day's feature match at Devonshire Rec. field (3 p.m.).
The talent gap, or more so gulf, between the two sides appears enormous with Cougars level with Wolves at the head of the Second Division, while Forties hover near the bottom of the Commercial Division Group A standings having garnered one league win against a draw and two defeats.
Still it is often the case that these underdogs are capable of raising their games for the FA Cup, so an upset is not totally off the cards.
In the opener at 1 p.m., Wolves tackle Island Rangers in what should be little more than a stroll in the park for the former.
Rangers have had only one success this season, and it took two matches, as they ousted Lobster Pot 3-2 in a replay to reach this stage.
Remaining matches see BAA facing Prospect at BAA (3 p.m.) in one of two all Second Division affairs -- the other being Paget versus Somerset Eagles at White Hill (3 p.m.) -- Exiles tackle Port Royal (BAA 1 p.m.) and KPMG have Robin Hood as their opponents (White Hill, 1 p.m.).
Young Kamen Tucker was the scoring hero of the BFA Youth League last weekend as he netted six times in helping Southampton Rangers to an 11-0 drubbing of Hotels in Mini-Minor B Division action.
Tucker was assisted by two goals from Wayne Hill and one apiece from Darius Cox, Jameiko Daniels and Jermaine Lightbourne.
In other B Division action, Damien Hatherley scored a hat-trick and Dawan Tucker had one goal in a 5-0 win for PHC Black over Somerset. The other goal was an own goal.
North Village Whites spread the glory in their 5-1 triumph over Wolves Black as Tarik Hill, Nicko Albouy, Nickai Albouy, Jason Simons and Kamal Sheeheed all scored. Jason Davis scored for Wolves.
Young James Paynter scored the only goal in St. George's 1-0 win over BAA. In Mini-Minor A, Travis Wilkinson netted twice and Torie Hollis and Jameiko Jennings one each as North Village Reds beat BAA 4-0.
Devonshire Colts got by Hotels 5-0 on goals from Quinton Jones (two), Jahmel Blakeney, Jahkee Smith and Jason Dill.
Also, St. George's Blue edged Somerset Reds 3-2. G.Johnston, D.Darrell and L.Bean scored for the east-enders while Jahni Bean and Anthony Lightbourne found the mark for Somerset.
In Minor Division action, Somerset topped St. George's 5-0 on goals from Jenson Bascome, Mark Mills, Jelani Butterfield, Jermaine Rumley and Edison Clarke.
