BFA call off U-23 match
to stage an exhibition encounter involving the Under-23s and a combined team of North Village and Dandy Town players.
The BFA last week announced that North Village and Dandy Town, due to meet in the consolation final of the Martonmere Cup on Friday, would instead form an all-star squad to face the Under-23s, currently preparing for Pan-Am Games qualifying matches in Jamaica.
But in a statement released yesterday, the BFA indicated that "because numerous issues have not been resolved... it would be inappropriate to proceed with hasty arrangements for staging this match. Hopefully there may be another opportunity to do so in the future.'' Village and Town will square off in the Cup consolation match at 1 p.m. as originally planned while Boulevard play Vasco in the final. Both games take place at National Stadium.
All of Sunday's FA Cup preliminary round games have been brought forward half an hour because some pitches do not have adequate lighting.
Matches due to have kicked off at 3.00 p.m. will now begin at 2.30 p.m. and the Exiles versus Forties match at PHC Stadium will begin at 12.30 p.m.
