BFA meet tonight
take place tonight, with a band of affiliates seeking resolution as to the constitutionality of the recent presidential election.
At issue is whether the placement of honorary vice-president Eugene Blakeney in the role of presiding officer constituted a transgression of the BFA's by-laws, which state that the position be taken by the sitting vice-president in the absence of the president, inferring Aldwyn Savery to have been the one to occupy the chair.
Neville Tyrrell was successful in winning re-election, holding off the challenge of Mark Trott, with Blakeney coming into play as he was called on to cast the deciding vote after the tally stood at 12-12 counting ballots submitted by the 22 affiliates, along with those of treasurer Delroy O'Brien and Savery.
Much debate ensued, with a group of clubs, most supporting Trott, petitioning for the Special Meeting to resolve matters. The meeting is slated for Young Men's Social Club, starting at 6.30 p.m.
