The duo, with Bromby skippering and White as his crew, placed sixth in the once postponed first race sailed out of the Royal Nautical Club situated on the north coast of Spain.

Bromby's current room-mate and defending champion Ross Macdonald of Canada won the opening encounter followed by Italy's Pietro D'Ali, with Hubert Raudaschi of Austria third.

Six races are scheduled for the event comprising many of the world's biggest names in the sport.
