Brothers make it a one-two finish

race off the Causeway, coming out of the water in 43 minutes, 59 seconds and 44:09 respectfully to complete a family one-two finish.

They were closely followed by two juniors, Ronald Cowan and Jonathan Herring.

Top female in the series, Alicia Mullan, again led the women in 44:19, over a minute ahead of her closest challenger.

From a starting field of 40, 36 finished the entire course with four opting to complete just one loop.

"The turn-out was a good one, especially for the longer distance. The results seem to indicate that most of the field are in pretty good shape.'' said winner Cash.

Starting and finishing at Blue Hole Park, the course presented a challenge in navigation for the swimmers.

"The course was a new one for everyone, and with some parts being very shallow it made navigating an interesting part of the race,'' added Cash.

"The water was basically calm, though the waves picked up a little bit on the second time back from (Longtail) Swing Bridge.'' The final race in the summer series, organised by Bermuda Triathlon Association, will be a 2.25 mile swim from the public dock on Evans Bay on Sunday, July 26 at 5.00 p.m.

Mullan and Mike Cash have already clinched top honours overall, but most of the age-groups' top male and female prizes remain up for grabs.
