leaderboard after the second round of the Fecchio Cup at the Belmont Golf Club yesterday.
Birdies at the fourth and seventh holes helped James, 14, to keep top spot in the 13-14 age group and to nose in front of a field of 50 overall in the prestigious junior event.
But the best score of the day came from Chris Brough, who carded a remarkable 69 to follow his first-round 80 and take pole position in the 15 and over age group.
Brough overhauled first-day leader Mark Robinson, who slipped back to fifth after his 80 left him five shots off the lead on 154.
In the 12 and under age group, Andrew Boyce extended his lead to an amazing 24 shots, after shooting a 74 to go with his first-round 73.
The final round takes place today followed by prize-giving.
TWO DAYS OF MOTOCROSS SCR Two days of motocross The Bermuda Auto Cycle Union will hold two days of back-to-back racing this weekend at Coney Island.
Called `Motocross Mania', racing will be held on Saturday for the annual Boxing Day Classic and on Sunday riders will participate in the fifth round of the 10-round Pepsi National point series.
Some of the favourite riders on show in the five classes include Jonte Smith and Zahkie Iris in the 50cc class, 60cc pair Anthony Grant and Paulos Francis, Stephen Panchaud and Jakai Brimmer in the 80cc class, Aaron Pace, Otis Ingham and Robbie Smith in the 125cc and 250cc duo Duprey Joell and Ricardo Nottingham.
Race time is 1.00 p.m. both days.
