Centre Re's Roberts slams sabres

Sabres 21-14 in Commercial League action on Tuesday night. Roberts was five-for-five at the plate and drove in four runs in the slugfest.

Winning pitcher George Hutchings got some extra support from his own bat and Brian MacMahon with each batter going four-for-five. They also had a triple and three doubles between them, accounting for seven of the team's runs.

Losing pitcher Rob Eastham was unable to contain the onslaught, but the Sabres did get some offensive spark from Stewart McRae and Gary Roman who each had two RBI.

Marsh & McLennan received another pitching boost from Nisala Weerasooriya as they slammed the door on Bacardi Bats, 15-6.

Steve Outerbridge hit for the cycle, getting a single, double, triple and home run to help his pitcher while two others, John McCauley and Mike Strohoffer also aided the cause.

Robert Burkhart was two-for-three in the losing effort, not enough to help losing pitcher Jim Fay.

Also, Sandys Sports Club took a 7-4 nail-biter over PTB with Terry Corday hurling the pitching gem.

Corday helped his own cause with two hits and two RBI while Mike Corday supplied three hits and three RBI.

On Monday night, Sousa's crushed Team Fashions 23-4, Bobcats beat Imperials 25-9 and Robin Hood won 13-5 over Police Club.

Al Busby was the hitting star for Sousa's with five hits in as many plate appearances. Three of his hits (two homers, double) went for extra bases.

Busby drove in 10 runs.

Bobcats' Tony Readwin had four hits, including a round-tripper, and drove in four runs but the big offensive thrust came from Glenn Frazier who chopped two homers and a double and had six RBI.

Rob Mason drove in four runs in Hood's win.
