Deli triumph in memorial game
defeated Butterfield & Vallis 5-0 at Devonshire Recreation Club on Thursday night.
The Deli got off to a fine start with three early goals from Troy Thomas, Delbert Minors and Marlon Lindsay. A second goal by Thomas gave the new champions a 4-0 lead at the half.
Butterfield & Vallis' best chance of the half was denied by a fine double save from goalkeeper Brendan Woolridge.
Angelo Parsons scored from the penalty spot in the second half to complete the scoring before Butterfield & Vallis enjoyed their best period.
The losing side squandered a few good opportunities and the final indignity came when Terry Lynn Paynter blasted a penalty over the bar.
The closing moments were dominated by Parsons' and Deli honorary captain Berwyn Pitt's version of `showtime'.
Woolridge was named most valuable player.
