Ebbin is named to replace Jones
black managing editor of The Bermudian magazine.
Ms Ebbin, made deputy editor of the Bermuda Sun in December, will take control of the 69-year-old monthly magazine in mid-April.
The 50-year-old Bermudian has been a journalist for the Bermuda Sun for the last 11 years.
But she began her career as a reporter on The Gazette , later moving to our sister paper, the Mid-Ocean News.
She now replaces outgoing managing editor Rosemary Jones, a Bermudian who took the post after returning from Toronto five years ago.
Kevin Stevenson, president of The Bermudian Publishing Company, said: "We are sorry to see Rosemary leave the company, especially since under her stewardship the magazine has flourished and achieved new milestones.
"At the same time, we are delighted to have secured the services of Meredith, who brings the talent and experience needed to further the goals of the magazine.'' Ms Ebbin, a nurse who switched careers to journalism in the 1970s, becomes The Bermudian's third successive woman boss. The former Berkeley Institute student said: "I leave the Sun with mixed feelings as it has been my home for more than a decade and has played an important role in my development.
"Still, I am looking forward to my new position. It's a challenge and a new opportunity and I intend to build on The Bermudian's venerable past.'' The Bermudian was founded as a general interest magazine in 1930.
