Frank finishes season as high points driver
when Bermuda Karting Club's points season ended on Sunday.
Frank added three more firsts (60 points) to finish with a season-high 748, while Yahama Senior Heavy driver David Barboza placed second overall on points with 737 and Luis Martins third with 722 in the 100cc Open class.
Sunday saw racing in the extreme as drivers battled for their final positions.
Damion Simons showed his skills in taking three firsts in the Shifter Class, finishing first overall with 670 points. John Carreiro Jr and Shaun Perott followed on 615 and 442 respectively.
Martins had a first and two seconds in the Open class as Andrew DeCosta placed second with 659 points and Kevin Tucker a distant third on 435 after running into problems in the first heat. He never finished a race.
Michael DeSilva finished first in the Yahama Senior Lights after leading his class with three firsts on Sunday for 686 points. Micah Mayho was second overall with 592 points and Tania Madeiros, the only adult female driver, third on 484.
The Yahama Senior Mediums saw John Carreiro Jr holding on to his first place by 44 points ahead of Donald Lewis, who pulled off three firsts to close the gap by 17 points. But it wasn't enough as Carreiro had already wrapped up the class. In third place was Sean Wheatley.
The Yahama Senior Heavy class saw champion David Barboza, who was in contention for high points overall, earning a third and two seconds. He was followed by Anthony Lima and Jason (Skuzzie) North.
The Yahama Junior Can class saw third place Kyle Wheatley sweep to three firsts. But Justin Morley held down first place with 712 points while Stewart Ball was a distant second on 593.
In the 80cc Comer Lights, new juniors Blake Camara and Carlos Cardoza fought for second and third after Matthew Lewis had already wrapped up the class. He was 100 points ahead going into Sunday's race and didn't need to participate.
New junior girl Natasha Camara showed plenty of skill in her first season.
The 80cc Comer Heavy class saw Brandon Frank secure overall high points for the season after three more firsts, followed by Rian Lindo and Justin Lindo in second and third.
