Ironkid Adam leads junior triathletes
Gatorade Junior Triathlon at the weekend.
Petty's time of 50 minutes, 21 seconds was enough to win not only the 11-12 age group in the advanced junior event, comprising a 300-metre swim, a 15-kilometre bike and three-kilometre run, but also the whole 11-14 category.
The boys 13-14 champion was Robert Pantry (51:44), while the girls overall champion was Ashley Robinson Roberts (53:48) and the 11-12 top girl was Chelsea Burns.
The standard race distances were 100m swim, 5K bike and 1K run for the seven to 10-year-olds and a 200m swim, 10K bike and 2K run for the 11 to 14-year-olds.
Flora Duffy and Tyler Abbott showed their experince with convincing wins in the 11-year-old category, while Mandy Oliver and Chloe Kempe won the 12 and 13-year-old girls' titles respectively.
Rhys Pearce was the top 12-year-old boy and 14-year-old Roy-Allan Burch won the oldest division with an overall fastest time of 33:44.
There were close finishes in the nine and 10-year-old boys races, with Raishun Burch and Brett Fox the respective winners. Amy Fox won the nine-year-old girls' title and Ashley Brooks was the 10-year-old champion.
But the fastest time in the whole seven to 10-year-old category came from eight-year-old Tim Fox, who finished in 20:11.
Krina Arorash was the top eight-year-old girl, while Rebecca Sharpe and Marc Smith were the seven-year-old champions.
