Jennings in line-up for Village
(BFA) for including "Miami Seven'' member Kevin Jennings in their line-up during an Alliance Division Group A match against Dandy Town on Saturday.
Concerned clubs are known to have received a directive from the BFA not to field any of the seven former members of the Bermuda Under-23 squad until a decision regarding their status has been resolved.
Jennings' participation was in clear defiance of the order and Village ultimately could face severe penalties for their actions.
Village became the third club to make such a stand against the governing body, as a day earlier witnessed BAA and Devonshire Colts both field supposedly ineligible players in the form of Meshach Wade and Keishon Smith in a First Division encounter.
During the match Jennings had little impact as Town won 3-2 with Nairobi Smith scoring twice, while Peter Sampson netted once. Jahmal Smith tallied for North Village.
Meanwhile, Commercial Division Group B took centre stage this weekend, with Group A taking a break.
Devonshire Colts All-Stars moved into a one point lead at the top of the standings with a hard fought 2-1 victory against fellow `All-Stars', St.
George's.
Jeff Richardson scored both goals to seal the result for Devonshire, while Anthony Smith notched the only strike for the losers.
Second placed Fire Service lost ground when they were held to a 2-2 draw by lowly Park United, but still appear sound bets to join Devonshire in being promoted to Group A as they lead third place Valley by four points, with four matches remaining.
Valley suffered a setback in their chase, dropping a point to Devonshire Lions by virtue of a 2-2 draw at the Den.
Anthony Amory provided the needed lift for Lions with two goals, as Valley, who still moved up a spot to third, replied through Gregory Holdipp and Al Thomas.
Fading fast are Somerset Extros, surprise 5-1 losers to Prison Officers, who have been rejuvenated by the continued presence of former Bermuda national squad captain Dennis Brown.
Brown, after spending his many years at the top level as a defender, these days is showing an affinity for scoring. His three on Saturday increased his season tally to 14, putting him among the top five in the league.
Others getting on the score-sheet for Officers were Ed Lightbourne and E.Swan, while Gladstone Brown scored Extros lone goal.
The only other match had KPMG down Wolves Pack 2-1 on a pair of goals by Neil Clemens. Dennis O'Brien replied for Wolves Pack.
