Juniors inch closer to leaders

Dean Lightbourne and his team, Pembroke Juniors, topped both the series and games lists to capitalise on leaders Buy and Sell's second straight loss in the Barritt's Sportsmen's League.

Juniors, who stopped Buy and Sell last week, moved to within 12 points of the leaders thanks to third-placed Sparks' 14-13 win over the pacesetters. Juniors got by last-placed Young Blood 15-12 as Lightbourne had a top series of 609 and high game of 234 while Pembroke Juniors rolled a 2,650 team high series and top game of 942.

Antoine Jones of Pembroke Juniors had a second high series of 586 and second high game of 233. Young Blood rolled the third high game of 897 as well as a 2,550 series.

Sparks are 10 points behind Juniors following their latest win which was led by Hank Rawlins' 214 game and the team's 889 game.

Warwick Whites left Young Blood further adrift at the bottom following their narrow 14-13 win over Mini Forwarders, rolling a 2,564 third high team series and 910 second high game. Harold Trott led the winners with a 224 game.

Mini Forwarders got on the honours list with their second high series of 2,569 as Steve Wales rolled a 565 series.

Social Club recorded the night's biggest win, 20-7 over Warwick Reds despite Ed White's 563 series for the losers.

This weekend should see Buy and Sell returning to their winning ways when they take on last-placed Young Blood while Pembroke Juniors and Sparks clash in the key match. Warwick Reds meet Mini Forwarders while the other match sees Warwick Whites playing Social Club.
