Hubbard, who rides for the Monaco International Cycling Club, is part of a four-member team who are representing Monaco. All are from the same club, including former pro Martin Aoun who is number one on the Monaco club team ahead of 19-year-old Hubbard.

The group travelled to Malta, an island in the Mediterranean, on Monday and the opening ceremony was the following day. The lone race, a 130-kilometre road race over mountainous terrain, is scheduled for tomorrow. They return to Monaco next Monday. Accompanying the riders is Prince Albert Rainer of Monaco.

The team is sponsored by adidas which is covering all expenses, including new bikes, new gear, tracksuits and luggage.
