Nusum's a college star
John Barry Nusum has become the pride of Furman University.
Such have been his feats on the soccer field in only his third term at the South Carolina school the 18-year-old Bermudian has become one of the most recognised athletes on campus and has been featured on the school poster (above). Nusum, who has represented Bermuda at every age level up to the World Cup and Olympic stages this year, has helped the sixth-ranked Furman team to remain undefeated in the Southern Conference this season and just last week spearheaded them to an 8-0 triumph over The Citadel by scoring a hat-trick which moved him into a third place tie on the school's all-time goal scoring chart.
The 6ft-1, 200-pound former Berkeley Institute player now has recorded 37 goals and 26 assists for 100 career points and is only the fourth player in Furman history to reach 100 points.
