OCC I suffer first defeat

undefeated on Tuesday night when league leaders The Centre beat them 8-3 in a record marathon match.

The match finally ended at seven minutes past midnight, with unbeaten The Centre riding to victory on Roderick Masters' brilliant performance. Masters swept his singles matches as he helped The Centre remain the only unbeaten team in the league. Their seven straight wins gives them a four-point lead over OCC I and Prison Officers, OCC with a game in hand.

The Centre won the first three matches before OCC fought back to even the match at 3-3. Masters, who had previously defeated Dave Waltham 21-18, 18-21, 21-15, beat Mike Lindo by the same scores to lead The Centre to five straight victories which included Masters' third marathon match when he beat Neil Slater 21-15, 10-21, 21-16.

Cory Berkeley defeated Dave Waltham 21-14, 21-13 and Lindo 21-15, 21-19 while Hasan Durham came from 12-18 down to Slater in the opening game of the night to beat him 23-22, 12-21, 21-19. In the final match of the night Durham beat Lindo 21-14, 19-21, 21-16. Slater upset Berkeley 21-15, 21-12 and Waltham beat Durham 21-12, 21-18. The teams shared the doubles matches. Eastern Stars defeated Nexgen Ltd 8-3 with Kevin Lapsley winning three games and Lee Tod and Mansfield Smith two each. Old Colony Club II edged Bermuda College 6-5.
