Owner escapes as yacht capsizes
aboard.
Spinning Wheel owner Mr. Larry Burgess was believed to be asleep in his motor yacht around 7.30 a.m. when it began to tilt from the southern side of the dock at Albuoy's Point.
Within minutes the Seven C's was on its port side and taking on water.
But Mr. Burgess, who refused to be interviewed, managed to escape unharmed.
It took firemen and Marine and Port workers close to two hours to return the yacht to its upright position and pump out the water.
No damage estimate was available yesterday.
A fire service spokesman attributed the accident to the high tide as a result of the full moon and a ledge that sticks out from the southern side of the dock near the ferry terminal.
"If a boat draws too much water on one side, it will hit the ledge,'' he said.
