represent Bermuda in the FIQ American Zone Championships, which will take place from May 23-29.

En route to Mexico, the Bermuda squad will stop in Cincinnati to take part in the Hoinke Tournament, which will serve as a warm-up.

In Mexico, Bermuda will compete along with 24 teams from North, Central and South America and the Bahamas in singles, doubles, trebles and team competition.

All the local bowlers qualified for places on the two teams during roll-offs at the Warwick Lanes last summer and since then the squad have been in training.

"Our (women's) coach David Pitt has done an extremely good job with the women, teaching us about the game and our own game,'' said women's captain Bobbie Ingham who will be competing in her third FIQ Tournament.

"This time I really feel confident with the team. Everbody is gelling together and I feel we can come back with something this time.'' Ingham has been to Wichita for the American Zone championships in 1989 and Singapore two years later for the World FIQ. She rates Venezuela and Team USA as the favourites in Mexico.

Teams Women: Bobbie Ingham (captain), Kathy Christopher, June Dill, Darnell Raynor, Pat Ming-Price, June Pitt.

Men: Chris Bardgett (captain), Antoine Jones, Dean Lightbourne, Ty Williams, Miles Smith, Mike McCallum.
