Association stage a fund-raising benefit ride for the family of Sinclair Packwood.

A long-time member of the BBA and a past sprint champion, Packwood's sudden death stunned the local sporting community last Friday.

Sunday's ride will start in Hamilton at 8.00 a.m. with members and any other friends urged to meet at the Flagpole -- the site of many of Packwood's finest performances when he was rated as Bermuda's premier sprinter.

Meanwhile, a large group of cyclists are expected to turn out at tomorrow's funeral at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Hamilton, where BBA members will form a guard of honour.

Riders planning to attend are being urged to contact BBA president Greg Hopkins at Winners Edge or call 295-6012.

Packwood made the Front Street Sprint Championships his own with numerous victories and also won the May 24 road race in back to back years. He will be remembered as one of the main figures who helped establish the now popular annual event.
