The meet is designed to help swimmers reach `A' times to qualify for the national squad and subsequently `triple A' times for the CCCAN Age-Group Championships in Oaxtepec, Mexico in mid-July.

As well as the two other spring meets, the national team will compete in Waterloo, Canada next weekend. The national championships are slated for June.

Some of the swimmers expected to reach qualifying marks include Stephen Fahy, 17, in the 100 and 200 metres butterfly and 200 metres individual medley and Trevor Ferguson, 18, in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle and the likes of Craig Ferguson, Stephen Troake, Ronald Cowen, Nuri Lathan, Paul Fox and Nicholas Van de Weg. The leading female contenders are Zoe Roberts, Tamika Williams, Elisha Miller and Alicia Mullan.

JUNIOR GOLF GLF Wayne Hill Jr led the way in the Group One event held at Southampton Princess on Saturday as he carded 47 over 13 holes to finish ahead of Ryan Mello and Daisha Haxton by three shots.

Group Two, also at the Princess, proved to be close with five players tied for the lead. The fast improving girls in this division, Lindsay Sims and Jennifer Spurling, shot rounds of 68 over 18 holes to tie with Raj Pachai, Colin Brown and Seamus Durkin.

Groups Three and Four played at Castle Harbour, but due to slow play were limited to nine holes. Matthew Hocking and BJ Payne both shot 40 to win Group Three by two shots over Patrick Graham while in Group Four Michael Sims fired 37 to win by one stroke over Craig Brown and David James.

The novices played at Ocean View where Andrew Boyce carded a nine hole score of 50 to defeat Jason Correia on 51 and Sea Dunkley on 52.

CRICKET CRI Commercial Cricket League side Forties will hold practice sessions at Nationals on Friday (5.30 p.m.) and Sunday (9 a.m.). New players are welcome.
