Social Club stayed on course for promotion to the First Division with a workman-like victory over Port Royal at Frog Lane field yesterday.

Lively midfielder George Liburd buoyed the Bluebirds with a two-goal performance that kept them in the hunt for the second promotion spot -- Second Division champions Southampton have already secured the other.

Liburd tallied first in the 35th minute, as Social Club ran rampant among opponents simply playing out the string.

And he also took centre stage seven minutes into the second half, netting again to confirm the result.

Social Club remained three points behind second placed Somerset Eagles, with whom they are competing for promotion. However the former have two games remaining, while Eagles' league campaign is complete.

Paget 1 Prospect 6 Prospect handed Paget their 15th consecutive league defeat, mauling the Second Division cellar dwellers 6-1 at Southampton Oval.

Leading 2-0 at the end of the first half, the visitors exploded for four goals following the break for an emphatic win, against a solitary reply by Paget.

Michael Thomas and Dwayne Leverock led the way for the policemen with two goals apiece, Leverock's tallies coming from two penalties, while Thomas's came in the more conventional fashion.

Other scores were registered by Andrew Bissell and Kenneth Bartrum, while Shane Grant scored a consolation for Paget.

Som. Eagles 2 Wolves 0 Somerset Eagles closed out their season with the win that keeps them in second place in the standings.

But whether the three points separating them from the other promotion contenders, Social Club, can stand up with the latter still having two games to play remains to be seen.

After a scoreless first half, Everett Wellman gave Eagles the lead in the 56th minute and with the match hanging in the balance Troy Smith made it 2-0 in the 90th minute.

Ham. Parish defaulted to St. David's at Wellington Oval when they showed up with only five players.
