Swan reflects on disastrous last day at Jamaican Open

Bermuda professional golfer Kim Swan was reflecting on what might have been yesterday after he allowed the chance of a top ten finish to slip from his grasp in the recent $150,000 Jamaican Open played at Wyndham Rose-Hall course in Montego Bay.

The St. George's pro went into the final round in 15th place and was considered to be among those still in with a reasonable chance of catching the leaders.

But a disastrous last day saw his score balloon to 80, taking him out of contention and dropping him into 40th place -- the same position he finished a year ago.

Two other Bermudians, Dwayne Pearman, who recently left his post at Ocean View, and Cornell Bean, the Belmont professional, also competed but only Pearman made the cut.

Swan finished on 297 and Pearman on 302.

Recounting his disappointment, Swan said a succession of bogeys coming down the back nine on the final day led to his downfall.

"I just chipped and putted poorly over the back nine. I carded a 43 and made a lot of errors coming down the stretch,'' said Swan.

"Going into the final round I was 15th and just over par and at that point I felt very confident because I had hit the ball as well as the leader.'' Pearman continues to ponder his next move after breaking ties at Ocean View where he was employed by Swan.

This week the former Port Royal assistant pro confessed that he was "taking it easy for a while at home'' before doing any job hunting.

Pearman said he had no immediate plans to travel abroad to participate in any further professional tournaments.
