Tensae settles it

With just two minutes remaining in this replay at BAA field last night, midfielder Walde Tensae drove in the Island Rangers winner to book his team's place in the next round of the FA Cup against Wolves.

Extra time, which looked inevitable, was avoided when Michael Bremar broke through on the left and laid the ball back into the path of the onrushing Tensae whose low shot from near the edge of the penalty area took a deflection before finding the back of the net.

Twice last night, Rangers, who came from behind to draw 2-2 on Sunday, had their lead wiped out by a determined Lobster Pot outfit, who created the better chances in the first half.

In fact, after making the mistake that resulted in Pot's second goal, no one was more relieved to see Tensae score the winner than Rangers goalkeeper Tyrone Berkeley.

Rangers took the lead in the 23rd minute when Lee Correia, who had come on just minutes earlier for the injured Keith Bremar, raced onto a pass through the Lobster Pot defence and placed a low shot in at James Sutcliff's right-hand post.

That lead lasted just four minutes before Pot came back through a well-taken header by Kevin Wilken after he rose unchallenged to meet Mike McGuinness's free kick.

The speed of Troy Berkeley and Correia caused the Lobster Pot defence trouble and three minutes before the break their defence was penetrated again when Bremar's pass through the middle set up Berkeley and he kept his cool to score past the advancing 'keeper.

In the 56th minute, Pot's Anthony Smith scored into an empty net when he intercepted an errant pass from goalkeeper Berkeley, who was outside his penalty area.
