The third night of competition in the Shell Divisional Handicap tournament brought a series of family successes.
Norman Furtado advanced to the quarter-finals in Division One with a four game win over Marco Bortoli while his wife, Lynn, narrowly defeated Doug Kline in Division Two.
Norman hung on for a 15-8, 2-15, 15-13, 15-10 triumph over his opponent while Lynn was take to five games by Kline before winning 15-4, 9-15, 15-12,7-15, 15-10.
Brothers Richard and Murray Brewer, meanwhile, had 3-1 victories in Division One. Richard halted Colin Alexander's bid for another crack at the title by winning 15-11, 15-9, 9-15, 15-9, with Murray recovering from a game's deficit to win 10-15, 15-9, 15-10, 15-8 against Spencer Moss.
Youngster Chris Sgobba displayed fine skills and tactics to overcome fellow ten-year-old Iain Redford 3-1 in the junior division. After losing the first game 3-15, he won the next three 15-10, 15-11, 15-5. Chris's father Donato was also successful, defeating Dave Keeble in Division Four in straight games, 15-13, 15-10, 15-9.
