Tito earns Colts final place

Tito Smith struck ten minutes from time at Devonshire Rec. last night to book Colts' place in the final of the Friendship Trophy.

Smith's 20-yard shot took a wicked deflection off a defender, wrong-footed Village goalkeeper Gladwin Edness and sailed into the top right-hand corner of the net to give Colts a deserved victory.

The teams produced an enthralling cup tie, despite the spoiling effect of a strong wind.

A Jamaul Boyles shot from 20 yards a foot over the bar was the closest either side came to a goal in the first half hour.

Elliott Jennings whipped a dangerous, dipping free-kick inches over the Colts bar in the 38th minute after Kaiwon Dill had been fouled just outside the box.

Colts took 40 minutes to muster their first serious goal attempt, an excellent strike by Marvin Belboda from the left edge of the penalty area which fizzed just too high.

After the break, it was Colts' turn to have the wind and they made good use of it, creating a string of chances.

Village 'keeper Edness was in inspired form and clung onto angled drives by Jerome Laws and Jermel Belboda.

Substitute Jermel Simmons saw his 20-yarder brilliantly parried away by Edness in the 75th minute, before the robust 'keeper was finally beaten.

St. George's 6 Ireland Rangers 2 An extra-time goal flurry sent St George's through to the Shield final as the Ireland defence caved in.

Blake Outerbridge scored for Rangers and Neil Paynter for St. George's to make it 1-1 on 90 minutes.

Yuseff Pitt scored twice in a minute, before Mackie Crane made it 4-1.

Ernest Trott and Paynter with his second completed the scoring for St.

George's, but Rangers' second, a volley by Mike Mendes was the goal of the night.
