Top Bermudian cyclist Elliott Hubbard helped Monaco to their first-ever medal at the fifth Les Jeux Olympiques des Petits Pays (The Olympic Games of Small

The Monaco International Cycling Club team of captain Martin Aoun, David Podvin and Hubbard captured the silver medal with strong finishes of sixth, seventh and 10th place overall.

Aoun, a former professional racer, led his squad with a brisk pace in the 115-km race, which was particularly difficult under extremely humid conditions.

Hubbard, who seemed the perfect set-up man for Aoun, allowed the Monaco captain to hold onto sixth place and then race past Cyprus cyclists to guarantee the silver medal. Luxembourg captured the gold medal.

GOLF GLF Peter Tucker captured his third Senior Men's Championships over the weekend when he beat back the challenge of former champion Jack Wahl in winning by three strokes.

Champion in 1986 and 1988, Tucker took the field by storm in recording rounds of 73, 78 and 75 at Belmont for a 54-hole total of 226.

Wahl, himself having a hat-trick of titles, returned scores of 74, 78 and 77, tallying 229 over the three days of competition, while last year's champion Noel van Putten was forced into the third spot, a further two strokes back.

Visitor John Howell was a popular winner in the low net division, carding 209, followed by Loris Trott (212).

Bernard Daniels (215) seized the 55-64 age group and Kenneth Ford (213) the 65-and-over group.

Saturday witnesses the start of the Amstel Summer Golf League `A' Division at Belmont.

June 18-21 are the dates for the Amateur Stroke Play Championships at Port Royal.

Entries for this event should be mailed or delivered to the BGA office PO Box 433, Hamilton, HM BX by June 5.

The United Bermuda Party will hold its 12th Premier's Golf Tournament at Riddell's Bay on June 19.
