Pan-American Games squad will be leaving on Monday and not today as had been hoped.

Trott had voiced concern about the amount of preparation time the team would have prior to their first match on Friday against Chile. He requested an earlier departure date than on Monday, which would give the side just a day to train after their arrival in Argentina.

The contingent will not arrive until Tuesday and Trott prefers to have his men rest for a day. So that leaves just Thursday to prepare.

Yesterday, however, Bermuda Olympic Association (BOA) secretary general John Hoskins confirmed that Monday remained as the departure date for the soccer squad as well as for most of the other competitors.

Bermuda enter the soccer competition as decided underdogs in their four member group, which also contains reigning world champions Brazil along with Chile and Costa Rica.

Following Friday's encounter with Chile, Bermuda face Brazil on Monday, March 13, and Costa Rica, who provide perhaps their best chance for a positive result, on Wednesday, March 15.

The latest list of FIFA rankings show Bermuda having dropped 10 places since the last list issued back in December.

Bermuda now stands 112th out of the 179 countries listed, having previously stood at 102.

Not surprisingly, Brazil remains at number one soccer followed by Spain and Italy, in that order.
