Twisters lift BBA title
70-57 victory over Bank of Bermuda in the recent Bermuda Basketball Association Winter League finals.
Bank held their opponents to a season low of 11 points in the first quarter as they put up a determined fight. But, taking full advantage of rebounds, Twisters pulled away in the second and third quarters, although they led only by seven heading into the final period.
That was extended to 13 by the buzzer, but the score marked only the second time this season Twisters had been held below 75 points.
Simon Onabowale led the Bank with 20 points and was also named men's division MVP.
Earlier Fenton's Drive cinderella season had ended when they were beaten by Bank in the semi-finals 54-51.
In the women's final, Myer's Flyers easily defeated Spanish Town 45-24 with Patty-Ann Merritt scoring 12 points for the winners. Janice Hankey of Flyers was named MVP.
Registration for the BBA Summer League will be held next month with the season beginning in June.
