Junior Championships found conditions testing on the opening day yesterday at Port Royal.

The heat and swirling winds made it difficult for the field which included players from Peru, USA, United Arab Emirates and the UK, along with the local youngsters.

One such player, 14-year-old Sergio Edness, led the way with a 78 while three local juniors in the 15-17 age group fired rounds of 79. They were Ted Terceira, David Boyce and OJ Pitcher.

Tyler Marshall led the way in the 11-12 age group with a fine 81 while in the girs division Laura Robinson shot 83 to lead Jennifer Spurling by two shots in what should be an interesting contest over the 72 holes.

Play continues today at Mid Ocean, followed by another round at Port Royal on Thursday before the final 18 holes back at Mid Ocean on Friday.
