With just a week remaining in the Miller High Life Bowling League defending champions Tools and Equipment have all but sewn up the title.

After an indifferent run during the past month the league leaders returned to top form with Dean Lightbourne, Antoine Jones and Ty Williams contributing in a 24-6 victory over Thompson's.

Lightbourne led the trio with a 618 series, while Jones and Williams followed with 602 and 601 series respectively to offset stellar -- if futile -- efforts by Leroy Ming and Carson Bean of Thompson's.

Ming notched a 244 game, which was the highest individual score on the night, while Bean had a second high series of 630.

However, Equipment are not out of the woods yet, as they face second-placed Marlboro tonight who still have a mathematical shot at the championship.

Marlboro trail the leaders by 121 points. Their last match witnessed them rolling past Franklin Travel 24-6 as Rick Lines (614 series), Doug Hines (607) and Mike McCallum (603) all got into gear.

Meanwhile, Lite Ice have locked up the third position after a crushing 27-3 triumph over Dr. Pepper that featured Henry Rawlins at his best, recording a 650 series.

In other matches New Mix Ups posted a 18-12 win over Spoilers that was decided by a mere six pins and Stevedoring Services defeated Team Spirit 26-4.

Tonight's matches: Tools and Equipment v Marlboro; Lite Ice v Thompson's; Stevedoring v Dr. Pepper; Franklin Travel v New Mix Ups; Spoilers v Team Spirit.
