The glittering neon lights of Las Vegas will serve as the back-drop for the Valley Eight-Ball, Nine-Ball Pool Championships beginning on Saturday, where Bermuda has entered a seven member team.

The experienced Gary Bascome will captain the local team while other members of the team with previous experience are Richard Foggo, Gasper Oliveira and Trevor (Kidd) Mouchette while Freya Robinson and Mike Burgess will both make their debuts.

Bascome's best year was 1988 when he never lost a match in reaching the final 32, only to forfeit his next game when the death of his mother forced an early return home.

The team leaves tomorrow for the $200,000 tournament, which runs through to June 5.
