There’s no beating de Ste Croix

Neil de Ste Croix has enjoyed success several times in the past at Ferry Reach, and it was no different on Sunday.

Neil de Ste Croix and Dexter Swan braved the elements and the course to claim wins in the Male ‘A’ and ‘B’ divisions respectively on a tricky Ferry Reach course on Sunday as the Mountain Bike series continued.Mother Nature showed her teeth as riders hit the traditional course in reverse direction which created a completely different and technically challenging route for all competitors. With rain soaking the trails, the race was always going to require more dismounts than usual, but it failed to bother de Ste Croix and Swan.De Ste Croix captured the win over team-mate Grant Goudge and the rest of the Male ‘A’ field, while Swan had a spectacular outing in the Male ‘B’ category. It was de Ste Croix fourth win in a row.One interesting category development was the battle in the Under-12s boys’ group in which Christian Oatley and Robin Horsfield have traded wins so far in the series.Oatley is currently leading the points series due to one missed race by Horsfield and their head-to-head record suggests that this battle will continue right through the three month season. In the combined category schools competition, Saltus Grammar lead Somersfield Academy, Warwick Academy and Bermuda Institute.
