Thomas slapped with long ban after pushing referee
with BAA Wanderers on Saturday after being slapped with a long suspension by the BFA disciplinary committee for threatening a match official.
Thomas pushed referee Gregory Grimes and used threatening words towards him after being sent off midway through the first half of the February 12 match with MR Onions for foul language.
Found guilty, Thomas has been suspended from all football until December, 2001, which means the former First Division player will miss all of next season and half of the 2001-2002 campaign. Thomas' ban was the most severe of the five Commercial players who appeared at the disciplinary hearing. BAA's Thomas Gribbin received a one match suspension and was placed on probation until December 31, 2000, for running onto the field and throwing the contents of a jug onto a North Village Rams player on February 5 after being sent off.
Victor Peixoto of Tuff Dogs and Devonshire All-Stars' Germano Bothelho were both placed on probation until December 31, 2001, for fighting each other in their February 5 league match.
Former Devonshire Colts player Craig Smith, who now plays for Prison Officers, was also placed on probation until the end of next year for using foul and threatening language towards an official during a match against Robin Hood on that same day.
Jeremy Fray of Wolves was banned from all football until the end of the current season and placed on probation until December 31, 2000, for foul and abusive language towards a match official during the Dandy Town game on January 29.
