Peniston moves to title challengers
North Village have made their first signing of the summer with Bermuda Hogges midfielder Jared Peniston joining the Rams.
Capturing Peniston, 25, is a statement of intent by the title challengers who already boast an embarrassment of midfield riches with the likes of Jennings' Keith and Jemeiko, Sammy DeGraff and Shayne Hollis.
Peniston, a Bermuda international, said his former club Wolves' lack of ambition and his desire to win silverware motivated his move to Premier Division powerhouse Village.
"Although Wolves had the potential of being a top team in Bermuda they were not serious enough to put in the extra work and commitment necessary to get promoted from the First Division," said the versatile midfielder.
"I thought about my next move for a while and was thinking about going back Dandy Town, but in the end I chose Village. I also wanted to play with my mate Gumbo (Ralph Bean), so this was the choice I made."
The former Hornet knows that cementing a starting place in the Village side will not be an easy task, although he makes the move on the back of an impressive season with the Hogges.
"I will adapt to the system that Village have implemented," said Peniston.
"I've been through this before when I went to Dandy Town, so I'll have to adjust to their style of play and work hard.
"I'm going to give them a few seasons and look to win a few trophies, while playing some good attractive football. They have a very settled team; a team not only with great individual talent but also a team that has unity - that is the key.
"I expect us to be challenging for all competitions. Hopefully another Triple Crown is on the cards."
Last week The Royal Gazette revealed that Hogges striker Lloyd Holder had transferred from Dandy Town to Premier Division champions PHC.
