Hat-trick hero Wells sinks Town

Nahki Wells scored a hat-trick for Bradford against Northampton Town.

Nahki Wells struck his first hat-trick in professional football to inspire Bradford City to a 3-1 victory at Northampton Town. The Bermuda striker, who has now scored 11 goals this season, opened the scoring after ten minutes when he beat the offside trap and turned inside his marker to plant a shot beyond the advancing Neal Kitson.Wells found the net again in the 39th minute when he swept home from close range after Northampton failed to clear the visitor’s free kick.Town pulled a goal back through Clarke Carlisle on 53 minutes, but Wells secured the match ball soon after when he capitilised on some indecision at the back to lift the ball over Kitson.Wells told The Royal Gazette: “I’m just excited to be honest, it was a match which took a lot of guts and grind to win. I’m just buzzing that I was the one to score the goals.”Wells’ Bermuda team-mate Freddy Hall was on the bench for Northampton.Bradford are 18th in the League Two table.
