Mellos make it a family affair

The Mello family practically swept the board in Sunday’s Royal Gazette Wahoo Tournament.Fishing from the boat Tantrum, Kevin Mello landed the tournament’s biggest fish, a 57.5 pounder, the only wahoo hooked on 16-lb test line.Tantrum skipper Brian Mello was tops in the 30-lb test line category with a wahoo weighing 55.2-lbs.And juniors Tyler and Alyssa Mello also put themselves among the prizes.Brian’s daughter Alyssa was the high point junior with a 45.5-lb specimen and son Tyler took 20-lb test line honours with a fish of 47.6 pounds.If a junior angler wins a line class the next high point fish entered by a junior, in Sunday’s case Alyssa, takes the trophyNot surprisingly Tantrum was the high point boat with a total of 2714.07 points.Kirk Dill won the 12-lb test class with a wahoo of 37.2-lbs.A total of 29 fish from 12 different boats were brought to the Dockyard weigh-in on Sunday.Prize presentations will be made next week.
