Barnes still the man to beat
Scott Barnes blew away the competition during weekend go-kart racing at Southside Raceway.The veteran driver continued his blistering start to the season by winning six heats competing in two separate classes.Barnes swept all three heats in TAG Senior Class which he currently leads by a slim three points over nearest rival David Barbosa.He beat mechanic and Bermuda Karting Club president Jason (Skuzzie) North in the first heat and then held off Stephen Corrado in the remaining heats to cap another dominant display at the track.Barnes also won all three heats contested in the 125cc Shifter Class which he currently leads by 78 points over nearest rival Corrado who managed two thirds and a second to remain in the thick of the hunt.Blake Horseman was the top driver in the Junior Stock Clone Class (10-15 years) after posting two wins and a second. Corey Lewis won the remaining heat in the Junior Stock Clone Class.Junior Stock Clone Class points leader Owen DeCosta managed two seconds and a third.Ryan Lopes won all three heats in the Junior Modified Clone Class (10-15 yrs) to increase his lead in the championship points standings over Zanardi Daley who is the only other driver in the class.Ryan Burgess, the only driver in the Junior Stock Clone Class (7-10 years), didn’t compete.Go-kart racing will resume on January 6.
