Bermuda’s Karen Smith won the women’s 45 to 49 age group at the Los Cabos Ironman in Mexico at the weekend.Smith’s victory qualified her for the World Championships in Hawaii later this year.Smith, who was the third fastest amateur female, posted a time of ten hours and 40 minutes and 47 seconds.Julia Hawley also competed in the race, finishing in a time of 12: 36. 03 to place sixth in the women’s 50 to 54 age group.The Los Cabos Ironman consisted of a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride and a 42.2km run.
