Tracey Sharrieff was returned as president of Bermuda Netball Association (BNA) at the association’s AGM at BIU on Thursday. The former netball star ran unopposed for the top post which she has held since 2011.Sharrieff attributed the overwhelming show of support she had received from her membership to her administration’s businesslike approach.“I am glad that the membership have confidence that new approaches taken by the new administration to getting the job done have proven successful,” she said. “Since inception we have offered full transparency an openness and reject negativity, whilst members are encouraged to be involved in any positive way they can.”Since taking over the reins, the former Pembroke Community Club (PCC) goal defender has implemented a broad mandate that places heavy emphasis in a number of key areas such as youth development.Asked what objectives had she set out to achieve during her second term in the hot seat, Sharrieff said: “For the second term I would like to see the Under- 16 and Under-14 national programme instilled along with further international development of our seniors and Under-21s.”The wife of BIU President Chris Furbert listed helping Bermuda regain a world ranking status and her administration’s commitment to the national programme as two of the biggest achievements during her first term as BNA’s leader. Also returned during this week’s AGM were first-vice president Tanika White, second-vice president Danielle Raynor and treasurer Tahkeesha Welch who each ran unopposed.Deborah Smith and Katie Brown were elected as the association’s newest secretary and assistant secretary/treasurer.The association’s council underwent subtle changes, with Sharnita Tankard and Kimale Evans joining incumbents Jene Charles, Andre Thomas and Chaquita Simmons who all retained their positions unopposed.“The new look committee is talented in several areas,” Sharrieff said. “And I am confident they will continue to give one hundred percent.”Sharrieff took over the BNA presidency after narrowly defeating incumbent Debra Saltus at the 2011 AGM.
