Triple delight for Rabain
Colt Inwood’s Generation moved up a time bar while stallion GV Crystal Ball equalled the fastest time of the season during Friday night’s harness racing at Bermuda Equestrian Centre.
Kirista Rabain was also in magnificent form, outshining her male counterparts en route to recording a memorable hat-trick of wins with two different ponies in as many divisions.
With Casey Truran at the helm, Inwood’s Generation moved out of the 1:13 & Slower time bar after posting a 1:11 in the 12th heat and 1:12/3 in the 17th.
GV Crystal Ball equalled the season’s fastest time after crossing the line in 1:04/1 in the Free for All with veteran driver Eddie Roque in the sulky.
It is the second time the stallion has equalled the fastest time this term.
Three ponies managed to get a leg out of their respective time bars.
Stallion GV Smokem posted a 1:07/1 in the 1:07/2-1:08/2 time bar with Zinho Cooper in the sulky while mare Hoosier Legacy ran 1:05/4 in the 1:06/1-1:07/1 time bar with Darico Clarke at the helm. Mare, The Reel Machine, with Courtney Davis at the controls, ran a 1:10 flat in the 1:10/4-1:12/4 time bar.
Rabain was in sparkling form.
She was a heat winner in the 1:07/2-1:08/2 time bar with mare Crown’s Jewel and recorded two additional wins in the 1:05-1:06 time bar with gelding Nite Dreamer.
Lindsay Sousa and Andrea Westerfield were the remaining female drivers making it into the winner’s circle.
Sousa posted a win with mare Colonel’s Finest in the 1:08/3-1:10/3 time bar while Westerfield claimed victory in 1:06/1-1:07/1 time bar with stallion Casmir Camotion.
Five drivers posted two wins on the night.
Cooper, Truran and Davis were all double heat winners in their respective time bars.
The evergreen Arthur Hurst managed two wins in the 1:10/4-1:12/4 time bar with stallion Colonel’s J while CJ Whited duplicated the feat in the 1:05-1:06 time bar with mare Black & Mild.
