Simons appointed to IOC role

Bermuda Olympic Association president Judy Simons

The Bermuda Olympic Association president Judy Simons has been appointed as a member of the International Olympic Committee’s Olympic Education Commission.

Simons joins 17 other members of the Education Commission, which is chaired by Philip Craven. As part of the changes introduced to the IOC’s function last month, the Education Commission will be focused on Olympic values and working with youth as part of the IOC’s Youth Strategy.

“I am honoured to have been appointed to the Olympic Education Commission,” Simons said. “I look forward to working with my fellow members as we work to advance the Olympic ideals among the world’s youth.

Simons’s appointment to the Education Commission is her fourth international appointment since becoming president of the BOA in 2008.
