Simons re-elected to Cacso Board

Judy Simons, the Bermuda Olympic Association president, has been re-elected to the Executive Board of the Central American and Caribbean Sports Organisation at its general assembly in Barranquilla, Colombia.

Simons, the only woman serving on the Board, was first elected to the Cacso Board in 2011. Elected representatives will hold office until 2019.

Cacso is the regional sports federation which oversees the Central American and Caribbean Games, the oldest continuing regional games in the world.

“I’m honoured to have, once again, been elected to the Cacso Board, where I will have the opportunity, on behalf of the BOA, to continue to assist with the development and growth of the CAC Games,” Simons said.

“Bermudian athletes have competed in every edition of the CAC Games since 1974, and the Games are among the most important international competitions available to young people who are striving to represent Bermuda at the elite level.

“I’m pleased to be a part of this fine organisation, and I look forward to working with my fellow board members as Cacso prepares for the 2018 Games in Colombia.”
