Bermuda men’s junior volleyball team face Dominica today in their first game at the Under-23 Eastern Caribbean Championships in Antigua.

The team, coached by Brian Amaro and Gary Leblanc, will be facing the hosts as well as St Lucia, Grenada, St Maarten, and the British Virgin Islands.

Bermuda finished second in the tournament two years ago and Amaro is hoping his side can build on that performance.

“These young players have been putting in 100 per cent effort over the past few months training for the competition, and will be bringing that intensity to every game,” Amaro said.

Representing Bermuda will be Jacques DeVerteuil, the captain, Matthew Amaral, Pedro Araujo, Shannon Botelho, Christopher Malpas, Evin Mosley, Joshua Pimentel, Riley Rego, Corey Simas, and Brandon Sousa.

The team manager is Robert Saraiva.

The championships run until Sunday.
