More Bermuda-bound flights cancelled

More flights between Bermuda and the Northeast US were cancelled yesterday as the region faced heavy snow.Delta flights between Bermuda and Boston were cancelled, as was an American Airlines flight scheduled to leave the Island for New York.Travellers were advised to contact their airlines to receive updated information and rebook flights if necessary.The storm is the most recent of a series of winter storms that have struck the region causing travel delays, airport closures and power outages.Areas of New England were buried in as much as two feet of snow yesterday with the roofs of several buildings in southern Massachusetts collapsing under the weight.In New York City, built up snow blocked drains, causing flooding in some areas. In other parts of the city thawing ice bombarded pedestrians, falling off buildings as temperatures rose above freezing during the day.The storm system is expected to affect the Island later this week, bringing increased winds and a few showers.Useful Websites: www.bermudaairport.bm, www.weather.bm, www.weather.com.
