TS Bret to brush Island Wednesday

Bermuda could be in for some much-needed rain as Tropical Storm Bret makes its way towards the Island this week.Meteorologists last night issued a warning that the storm, which has 35-knot winds and 45-knot gusts, is likely to pass 400 nautical miles to the west of Bermuda on Wednesday evening.Winds on the Island are likely to be 20 to 25 knots at that time, according to Bermuda Weather Service, which also predicts a week of unsettled weather. Duty meteorologist James Dodgson said last night: “As it comes near us, it’s going to bring a lot more cloud and showery rain, with the risk of thunder.Tropical Storm Bret was 750 nautical miles west-southwest of Bermuda, travelling at a speed of two knots.
