Minister to hold jobs debate

Carpenters and out-of-work international business professionals can speak face-to-face with Economy Minister Kim Wilson at an event taking place tomorrow (Thursday) evening.The Minister will hold special sessions for workers from both sectors after a public forum on the economy at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.She said yesterday: “I am taking this opportunity to meet with two specific segments of industry professionals to hear their views and understand their concerns more fully.“While these are two very distinct and different sectors, their job search challenges are somewhat unique.“I want to hear first-hand the specifics they have been facing in their respective industries, so that we in the [Economy, Trade and Industry] Ministry can better assist.”‘The Great Debate: You and the Economy’ forum, hosted by the Ministry in partnership with the Association of Bermuda International Business Companies, Bermuda Employers’ Council and the Bermuda Hotel Association, will take place at 5.30pm at the Fairmont.Senator Wilson will open the session, followed by presentations from industry professionals.The separate sessions for carpenters and international business workers will take place in the Gazebo Room and Harbourview Room, respectively, immediately after the main forum.IB workers will have the chance to get advice from recruiters.
