Public urged to take part in consultation

Premier Paula Cox is urging the public to participate in the UK Government's consultation on its future relations with the colonies.

In a statement to the House of Assembly on Friday, Ms Cox reminded parliamentarians of Britain's intent to publish a White Paper next year and had launched a consultation process intended to be as wide as possible.

A website has been set up, www.ukoverseasterritories.com, for the purpose. But respondents have a variety of means by which to participate, the Premier said - by mail to the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office or Government House in Bermuda, online or by email to Cabinet Office (adyertucker[AT]gov.bm or mcsharpe[AT]gov.bm)

The deadline for submissions is December 31, 2011.
